The article “Two genders, two planets” by Shannon Oliver on the Huffington Magazine is an extremely influential article on the psychological differences between men and women. The article embraces exclusive analysis of gender psychology. The subject is highly sensitive and carries massive weight. It is a subject that the author goes around in a unique way to define the differences that exist between Male and Female. Reading through the article would leave the reader a new student of the gender psychology following the uniqueness of the analysis that the author brings forth. There is absolute uniqueness on how Shannon comes up with such an influential psychological piece.
There are various reasons why the article would secure a place in the magazine. The first reason is the sensitivity of the topic. Everyone would wish to understand why there exist massive differences between male and female. It is a controversial issue in the society where different people wish to narrate their understanding on the topic. People would wish to understand in what way each of the genders is unique and how their uniqueness tallies in the overall classification of the psychology of human beings (Oliver 01).
The topic remains a major topic of discussion in other presses. The publicity of the topic is based on the sensitivity that the article carries. The media are also in a fix trying to understand the psychological variance between men and women. It is attractive to find the same issues being discussed or handled by different people. It means all individuals have the potential to think over the subject and come up with unique argument (Oliver 01). Through the different media arguments, the Huffington magazine also requires bringing in an exclusive argument over the subject.
It is clear that males and females behave differently. They respond to situations differently. Therefore, an argument on their behavior would be an extremely interesting topic that would attract the attention of the people. The article by Shannon has a clear explanation of how men and women behave. The section attracts many people exposing them to proper understanding of why females are unique from males. The article stands out to represent the different behaviors between men and women (Oliver 01).
Men and women have different expectations for each other. The article is keen to show how the expectations vary. The article presents women as complicated beings. At some point, a woman will be told sorry and respond “okay” but the okay may only exist for some time. Later, the woman will recall the issue if something triggers her emotions on the issue. On the other hand, when a woman apologizes to a man it is very easy for him to forget about the issue. Even if the issue came up immediately, the man would be ready to forgive.
The article presents men as confusing. It is hard to understand the psychology of a man since he acts in unique ways that are difficult to comprehend. At one point something terrible happens to him through the woman, and he will say that it is okay. It is confusing how he chooses to forget of the issue while the woman can hold on the issue for an extremely long time. The forgiving nature of a man is amazing.
Also, the article addresses a major issue where she affirms that women are complicated. However, she says that women are openly complicated. According to her women, will always say what they want. For example, she says women want to be told that they are beautiful all the time. They believe it is the role of a man to appreciate the beauty of his wife. A woman expects to be told that she is beautiful infinitely (Oliver 01). The author says their joy and pain rides on their expectations from men.
The article would also find its place in the press following the uniqueness of the presentation. Shannon quotes creation in the bible, which is a major element in defining the role of men and women in a relationship. She succeeds in showing the uniqueness of the man and woman from the bible. She quotes women to be a relationship oriented, and they would wish to be loved all the days of their lives.
At the end of the article, she presents some uniqueness about women that would make anyone that to read the article. She says that women choose to discuss the issue immediately it occurs while men do not believe in haste discussions. Men fear making hasty decisions that would contradict the sensitivity of the issue at hand. It will be terribly hard to find a woman who intends to handle the problem after a long time since its occurrence. They all wish for prompt discussion (Oliver 01).
The issue concerning the differences between men and women has attracted scientific intervention. As a result, psychologists such as Bobbi Carothers Washington University in St. Louis and Harry Reis of the University of Rochester came up with unique article explaining the differences between men and women. However, the title of the article indicates that men and women are from earth but proper examination is necessary. As a result, they engage in exclusive research analyzing male and female behaviors as they at coming up with unique psychological points of analysis.
The researchers use sexuality to define the differences between men and women. Sexual attitudes are major determinants of the differences that exist between men and women. Through sexual definitions, women would wish to be loved in an excellent way. By this, they mean that women love compliments. Through this argument, the scientific finding links to the social thoughts by Shannon in her article. It is true that women would wish to be complimented every day (Carothers and Harry 13).
Also, the article handles self-construal. The article means both men and women have personal perception over some issues. It means they would handle certain issues differently. The article concludes that women would wish that men would always heed their opinion. The men must be willing to listen to the many things that the women would want to tell them. The argument is proper support for the previous argument by Shannon. Women are out for a relationship (Carothers and Harry 11). In order to have the relationship work, the women must push the men to talk to them.
In addition, the article discusses the issue of intimacy. In a relationship, intimacy is a major concern. According to Shannon, women would wish to be complimented every day by being told that they are beautiful. Intimacy shows support for an outstanding relationship. Therefore, the article confirms that women would wish to be loved for the whole of their lives. The joy of the women can only be found when love is the thing they get from their men.
Care orientation, which is a major element of analysis for the article shows the uniqueness of women as indicated in Shannon’s article. In the subject of love, women would wish for a relationship where the men show care and concern for their problems (Carothers and Harry 13).
The uniqueness of the articles provokes exclusive argument within me. Following extensive exposure in a world where there are both men and women, it is easy to come up with an exclusive argument on the differences between men and women.
It is evident that men and women are different. The uniqueness comes in different ways. It is evident that women will always seek attention from men. They wish that men could listen to them all times. At no point should women wish for ignorance from men (Carothers and Harry 13). It is shocking to find how women seek attention from men over simple issues.
Also, it is true that women are extensively complicated compared to men. The point could be argued out following the many incidences that I find women angry over small issues concerning their relationship with men. At some point, a man may choose to forget of an issue in the relationship while the woman may hold on the issue for an extensively long time. The women may take long time extensively before they come up with a conclusion to forget about the issue. The element marks the exclusive difference that exists between men and women.
Being complimented is a major demand for women. They wish their men could be close to them every time to compliment them regularly. They find joy in the compliments they find among their men.
It is true that men are confusing on how the respond to the various issues those surround them in a relationship. They will always find simple ways of getting over complex issues. They will easily forget of a quarrel last night and wake up with laughter. They will always accept hard issues very fast and make very fast reconciliation.
Therefore, based on the above personal analysis, the two articles are right to define women and men as different. They both believe in gender traits as the main causes of the differences.
