Long before industrialization, our great grandparents enjoyed the luxury of accessing fresh and clean water always. With increased industrialization, the water was put into production processes in the companies. The waste products from these industries were and still are dumped in fresh water sources. Industrialization has also brought about global warming which affects the sources of the fresh water. They did not care about the future generation.
Water shortage problem has already hit the world. The people in power are forced to come up with measures to ensure that the problem does not intensify. Industries and companies are recycling water and putting it into greater use like agriculture. Before dumping the water product into the oceans they are purifying the waste matter to ensure it does not affect the source of the water.
On the other hand, increase in population bring about competition for water in the society. In China, the country with the highest population, and a growing economy is faced with lack of fresh water to sustain its ever growing population. It gets its water from Tibet in India, which might bring about a conflict in future. Privatizing the water companies does not auger well with everybody in the world. This is because the price for water is escalated by these companies.
In conclusion, the policy makers ought to critically analyze decisions made to ensure water sustainability in the world despite increase in population. This is because if this is not put into check, the future generation will face dire consequences of the present acts. Technology if rightly put into use can help reduce the water crisis despite all the challenges facing its execution.
