Efficient leadership makes a great impact on employees and contributes to the overall development of the company by sharing the same principles, creating a vision and building a strong team of professionals. There are many different leadership styles with detailed description, however, a true leader should take the best of each while managing the company. In this regard the new leadership style - management by walking around has been defined as the most credible. It applies to the position of a nursing leader, as one should constantly be on the move and fulfill the given responsibilities.
This leadership style comprises the best features of five leadership styles and allows to be an example for the employees, make reasonable decisions, set realistic goals, communicate openly, recognize the potential in each member and encourage the team. Moreover, an experienced and successful leader should find an approach to four different generations of people. It requires a constant work on oneself in order to overcome one’s ego (inability to admit that the staff can do work better than the leader), temperament (fear to ask for help) and insecurity (being threatened by others) (AANAC, 2014) The solution of such issue is very simple – one should implement the changes in the work environment by assuring each member in the value of the performed work, building team spirit, defining the vision of organization and choosing the corresponding attitude towards each member individually taking into account the groups of employees. Successful leader should strive to excellence, define goals, build individual accountability, communicate at all levels and focus on employee’s satisfaction. (Naté et al., 2012)
In conclusion, efficient leadership is a powerful way to build the corporate culture, team, achieve goals and success. While implementing the strategies, leader should be open and optimistic, ask questions, bring employees good news, take active part in their work and show as example to follow. The sufficient contribution into the development of the vision and team work would help to change working environment and people’s lives.
