I know there are several states in the USA, which legalized prostitution. For example, this job is legal in some counties of Nevada. It’s a crime in New-York, as I know. Prostitution is a practice where sexual relations are exchanged for money. If chief and employees of Rentboy.com were involved in something like that, they should be charged as described in the article. It looked like site really promoted the prostitution. For example, on of its clients Edward Lorenz Estanol mentioned on his own site that “escorting is a great way to explore your sexuality and get paid doing it” (Clifford, 2015).
If I was just a hired worker, I would be against my charge and would say only owners should be blamed. But I will have the same attitude if I would take part in illegal actions, like promoting of the prostitution. However, according to laws I should be charged in this case. The punishment can differ depends up my awareness, but it should be. Maybe, hired workers should have only minimal fine, instead of $250,000 that can be taken from charged people from article.
Of course, I need to worry about a company I would work for. Official employment makes people partially responsible for the company’s actions. Especially, if they know that these actions are illegal, but continue to participate in them. I think such articles make me more alert in regard to potential work that I can find after school. I should check not only company’s field of work, but also employment terms and other features. There are many examples in cinematograph and real life when young, inexperienced workers were made sacrificial goats.
