Teaparty.org appears to be the official website for the Tea Party political movement. The website is designed to educate and inform visitors of the movement and what it stands for. There is a particularly easy to read About Us section, which introduces the Tea Party as “a grassroots movement that calls awareness to any issue that challenges the security, sovereignty, or domestic tranquillity of our beloved nation, the United States of America” (Tea Party). It also lists a set of fundamental beliefs that the Tea Party uphold and adhere to. Furthermore, the site has a detailed Events page, featuring a list of Tea Party conventions happening all over the US. Within the Events page are also subsections to encourage visitors to participate and get involved with the site. Some examples of these are Forum, Blogs and Photos.
Overall, the site is interesting, well designed and user friendly. The pages are simple to negotiate, making the content accessible even to lesser educated individuals. The purpose of the website is to enable members to communicate with one another, and to attract new people to the movement. The site provides links to news articles on other websites, the stories being connected to or involving the Tea Party. In particular, this element opens the site up to containing unreliable information. There are many news websites, all varying in degree of reliability, and by including links to these, teaparty.org is inadvertently implying that the stories are true. However, many other elements of the website seem reliable, such as the times and places of Tea Party conventions.
