The film is about a Chinese girl who finds a lost panda. For this reason, the cover’s design shows a panda. Below the image is the title of the film. Based on the synopsis of the film, the target audience include families and children. To appeal to a young audience, the design would be better if the lines and texture of the panda’s image are smoother and softer, and if the image showed the panda’s eyes to make it a more attractive image for children.
The cover design works well aesthetically because it reflects the title and narrative of the film and matches its theme. Symmetry in the design also creates focus on the image and text bearing the title of the film, which makes the product identifiable as a film about pandas. Symmetry is palpable in the balance between the space taken up by the image or logo of the film and the title.
Other aspects of the design, however, do not work well aesthetically and technically. The color palette does not mesh well together – the yellow hue of the image behind the panda does not blend well with background image, which is light green. The cover would look more appealing if the color used was black, and the overall theme of the design in terms of color is black and white, which represents the object of the film – the panda. The design would also be better if the text is enlarged a little in the frame and the font had a thicker style. The text should also have no outlines. In this way, there would be symmetry in the space occupied by the image of the panda and the title on the cover sleeve.
