Argument for population in the world
With high population and complementing technology, there will be efficiency in the economic system of a country. Therefore, a high population, coupled with this efficiency will lead to high productivity in an economy. Such an economy will record high growth rates.
The other factor is that a high population provides a large market. Countries with a high population have a large and stable market for their products. As a result, companies operating in such regions enjoy high sales and hence high tax remittance for the government. Consumers in such countries obtain commodities at relatively low prices due to mass production.
Another argument is that a high population attracts foreign investors. They identify an opportunity of expanding their presence and turnover. Due to this, employment levels increase in the country.Argument against population in the world
High population growth rate is taking place in the poorest countries in earth. This has led to impacts on the environmental, political and civil security. It has also been extended to the people's health all over. The governments of these nations have had difficulty in the distribution of resources to cater for the need of the huge population.
In addition, high population imposes huge stress on the ability of the fragile government to keep order. The provision of the basic need to the people becomes difficult thus leading to the insufficiency of the key fundamental wants of the people being not met. This is problematic to these nations as it will create large cohort of impoverished and angry young people.
High population causes woes on the environmental aspects and the development causing the weather change. This leads to environmental degradation, which may not support, the size of the population. These will lead to a reduced world carrying capacity compared to the situation earlier. As the number of population rises, destruction of forests takes place leading to desertification and overfishing of the waterways and oceans.
High population causes problems not only to the size but also to the structure of a state. This leads to higher risk of the civil strife and armed conflict among citizens. They affect and undermine the security and the development of the involved state.
Finally, the high population makes the world worry about the future famine and the raw material scarcity. These will lead to high prices of the commodities leading to high inflation.Opinion on having fewer people
In the modern world, the way that will enhance economic development is controlling the population increase. Distribution of resources and the wealth has a greater impact when it comes to the population size and structure. The government tries equitably to balance the development in the regard of the population size.
Provision of the social amenities and other resources depends on the population. This reciprocates to the tax revenue collected. In a situation of the high number of dependency in the society, this makes the collected tax not to meet the social resources needed.
Advanced production technology has boosted the development. The time of having a high number of people to provide cheap labor has passed. Small population and the available technology have a high level of output leading to economic growth thus raising the living standard. Therefore, my opinion is that a high population is disadvantageous to a country.
