In the film Barbara took place in German directed by Christian Petzold. The film was among one of the best international film and nominated was on severally for the Academy Awards. It has also won awards such as Silver Bear under the category of best director (Barbara film, 2012).
The film began with a middle aged woman sited, relaxing under a shade with her legs crossed. Some young middle aged men were keenly watching her from a window close to the park where the lady was sited. One of the men suggests that if she was six then, you can say she is sulky because her groups of friends have been destroyed while in her incarceration. The woman plans to meet these two men however; one of the men points that she cannot do so any moment earlier. Film ‘Barbara’ that is directed by Christian Petzold. It sets up a precise atmosphere filled with tension and elegance. These papers aim to give an analysis of the film, how the analysis will be restricted to the conflicts that consume Barbara, the woman, played by Nina (Barbara film, 2012).
Barbara is a doctor; she is working in a rural medical clinic as a punishment for applying for an exit visa. Andre on the other hand has a priority for his patients. In essence, the constant surveillance creates a conflict that consumes Barbara. She wants to free East Germany while the Stasi’s position I that she stays.
In the first day at work, Barbara correctly diagnoses a young teenager girl with a chronic illness, the symptoms of which her colleagues had missed. The Barbara you see in the hospital is completely a different person to the Barbara you see in the park. In the park, Barbara is a cool, self-conscious woman smoking. However, in the hospital she treats the teenager girl with malicious character and reads a book to her. Notably, Barbara is living two live that are conflicting on another, however, she unnoticeably balance between them without much struggle.
On the same note of Barbara living two different conflicting lives, she has rendezvous secrets with a lover from West Germany a nearby forest. To be more specific, Barbara smokes expensive cigarettes from the black and has mysterious meeting with people that surreptitiously give her pockets of money. Notably, the day before departure flows with a series of conflict that consumes Barbara. In the film, Mario, bring Barbara and Reiser to work overtime. Barbara, while on duty, noticed that the suicidal patient had not recovered as well as pointed earlier and needed a brain surgery. She looks for Raiser to inform him on the urgency of the surgery. In short, Raiser finds a doctor to perfume the surgery in his place and insists that Barbara be there as an anesthesiologist. At this point, Barbara’s reaction shows her inner turmoil over her decision to take part in the surgery the day of her escape (Barbara film, 2012).
Following the arrangement to be there for surgery and yet still preparing for an escape, Barbara meets Raiser at his home for lunch. Overall, she returns home to continue to with escape plans. During this occasion, Stella had fled the labor youth detention program again to look for Barbara. The very night of escape, Barbara meets Stella at her doorstep. As the film demonstrates, Stella takes the place of Barbara in the escape while she returns to join Andre for surgery in the hospital depicting that she and Reiser will stay as a partner, in more than one ways (Petzold, 2012).
