Learning of new behaviors in an organization is inevitable. As a matter of fat, the organization management in the 21st century is becoming very dynamic. One of the ways of learning new behaviors in workplace is through behavior modification. This refers to a precise way of demonstrating desired behaviors in an organization. Based on the theory, it is believed that learning of behavior depends on the environment. Studies show that behavior modeling is very effective as compared to direct reinforcement for helping employees to learn various new behaviors. People in the work place can learn by what other people do.
Certainly, behavior modeling is crucial since it positive and purposeful way of teaching employees to obtain healthier behaviors. It is worth noting that a positive culture among employees does not just develop in a short time, the employees get an opportunity to learn from their leaders. Behavior modeling is effective because it entails sitting close with employees and teaching them how to undertake the tasks. This aspect of closeness creates and interactive avenue in the workplace. The employees have an opportunity to gain insights and ask questions at first hand experience.
In addition, behavior modeling is effective because it improves the work ethics among the employees and the management. The employees get an opportunity to subconsciously and consciously learn the behaviors displayed by the managers. The management team in an organization is always focused on becoming successful in their work; therefore, they always work in an honesty manner. The behavior, modeling allows the employees to see the honesty and hard work of the management team. Some of the easy ways that the managers gain employees honesty is by accepting mistakes, fulfilling promises, and taking advice.
Behavior modeling is very effective in making employees focus on teamwork and mentoring. The behavior modeling helps in mentoring to effectively demonstrate their positive behaviors. The positive behaviors demonstrated by employees are encouraged by the organization since it takes the organization to another level. Moreover, behavior modeling is effective that direct reinforcement because it has several positive outcomes, especially in attainment of employees and organizational objectives. When employees learn through behavior modeling the outcome is more practical and can be measured through productivity.
