The answer by classmate one discusses the impact of music on the domestic violence as the writer believes that pop culture is sending a mixed message to the people and the community. Although, it is believed that one does what he or she listen or see, but that might not always be the case. The people, who listen to music that promotes domestic violence such as abusing, killing people, anger etc, not necessarily becomes a killer or act violently in different situations. Many songs sung by different singers and rapists deals with the domestic violence and child abuse such as “30 Minute Break” by the Lutka State, “Love the way you lie” by Eminem, “The damage has been done” by Evacuate Chicago, etc (Songs fact, 2015). Although, these songs convey message of violence, yet these songs were famous during their time. Thus, there is likelihood that by listening to such songs, one might act violently. However, the listeners could be educated that violence is not good and should be avoided.
The answer by classmate two was more of view that different media mainly movies and televisions demonstrates domestic violence. Moreover, constant messages sent by the different media, particularly electronic media, has set an impact on our minds that particular act will eventually end up in some sort of violence. For instance, when we read a story or watch any play, the mindset of domestic violence makes us condition to expect any act of violence, where in particular, women are most found to be the victim of domestic violence. Besides this, different television programs, particularly news influences our minds resulting in showing the act of violence once or more than once in our life (Laufer 2014). Thus, it can be said that pop culture sends mixed messages about domestic violence.
