Effective communication has a direct impact on the success of a virtual team. Most successful teams make an effort to meet face to face on a continuous basis. At the core of effective virtual team communication is sharing of a common vision and clearly defined goals. Limitations on time and distance can inhibit proper communication.
- Physical distance
Virtual teams face the challenge of face to face contact. Non-physical relations are rarely as effective as physical interactions. So it is advisable to pay attention and implement strategies that help humanize the virtual media.
- Imbalance between personal life and work life
It involves work being done in the same physical space as where most people typically go about their personal lives. This often results in conflict of interest between personal life and work.
- Changing world
The world is always changing. Adaptation of managerial skills must be strengthened in virtual teams due to rapid unforeseen changes in the virtual world.

- Language used in emails is simple and informal.
- Emails are fast, a click of a button and it’s sent to whatever destination.
- Environmental friendly, emails do not use paper.
- Enable advertisement, companies can use emails to reach people and inform them in a short time.
Drawbacks of e-mail
- E-mails cannot really be used for official business documents. They may be lost and one cannot sign them.
- Spam mails, it takes a lot of time to filter out the unwanted mails from those that are really important.
- E-mails carry viruses, provides an easy way to spread viruses to computers.
- Less physical contact with people.
Question 3
Charismatic leaders are capable influencing the actions of their subordinates through their personality. They possess good speaking ability, which entails speaking to people articulately and using good listening skills. Authentic leaders are positive people with truthful self-actualized individuals who are aware of their strengths, their limitations, and their emotions. By building trust and creating enthusiastic support from their subordinates, they are able to improve team and individual performance. Authentic leader has embedded empathy, enabled communication, empowering belief and tries to prevent harm. A very good example of authentic leader is the late Nelson Mandela; he had most of the traits of an authentic leader.

My CEO possesses the attribute of competence in his leadership style. This can be seen by shareholders, employees and the general public and employees. He has excelled academically in almost every field of study and has specialized experience in leadership. He is mission oriented; a superior leader has a well thought out mission statement describing the purpose of the organization. He has also come up with a vision statement that will guide the company to its intended destination.

Yes. I am goal oriented, honest, have the ability to delegate and trust my team with my idea, which is a sign of strength for a leader. Delegation involves identifying the strength of my team, and capitalizing on them. I have good interpersonal skills, these helps in relating the vision to my team. Training new members and creating a productive work environment all depends on healthy lines of communication. I can develop myself as a leader, by involving myself in groups of people facing complex challenges and achieving results in a complex situation. Also i can create a positive work environment and culture characterized by, strong relationship with my colleagues, and staff, trust, dedicated hard work and teamwork.
