Business: Beta Testing
Beta testing is described as “used for formative evaluation or fine tuning”. The terms stand valid in Apple’s new patch release to secure its iOS further. Jailbreaking is one of the processes that is famous among the users worldwide since the first launch of I phone. Apple has always maintained a layer of security for its operating system. Users are not allowed to use “unauthorized software” on their apple devices. The feature is also created for security purposes. JailBreaking, on the other hand, is a process which terminates all the restrictions by bypassing Digital right management software of apple operating system iOs. Once the jailbreak has been done, users are at freedom to use unauthorized software and at the same time make changes or tweak the operating system.
Apple has long been fighting to prevent jailbreaks in the operating system. (Ali, 2009).It timely releases updates to make sure that the operating system provides a secure environment. The latest development of a patch by Apple is another step towards the establishment of maximum security in Apple devices. The patch deals with the issues that have allowed Software like evasion to hack the system and allow the user to jailbreak the Apple device.
The new beta testing surely meets the criteria as described by the textbook. The notion of formative evaluation is working at its fullest as Apple is aiming to make its devices more secure. If the release completely serves the purpose for which it has been initiated, Apple would achieve its objective and the notion of formative evaluation would have been obtained. Similarly fine tuning is also prevalent as the update would tend to deal with the all the vulnerabilities that have allowed Evasion software to hack into it.
