Hello President Obama,
Hurricane Harris has just struck our area and we are in a state of emergency but trying to get our lives back in order. Since the storm we have had many families rendered homeless and the education activities in our area have been paralyzed. I understand that the constitution of the United States provided for equal protection for all under the Equal Protection Clause. We have worked hard over the years to make sure that we secure a good life for our children and future generations. However, this natural calamity has completely changed our lives through the massive destruction of property that it has caused us. The constitution of the United States is based on the notion of individual rights, freedoms, and most importantly the transparency of government. Owing to the democratic accountability that we have bestowed in you and your office through our vote and democratic participation we sincerely hope that your government will set in and offer assistance to our community in this time of need.
We do believe that the needy in society should receive some form of assistance. I do not consider welfare or any other aid that your government might offer to us as being an entitlement or an absolute right. I consider such an action as a gesture of accountability by your government to its people. In particular, I commend your government for maintaining the policy of no child left behind introduced by your predecessors. In the light of this, we hope that the federal government in conjunction with state officials will work fast towards making sure that our people gain quick shelter and that our children can get back to class so that we can continue to the work of building a better America.
In conclusion, I am calling for government assistance in providing shelter for our people and the reconstruction of our schools. Thank you very much for your time.
