The human body is the most versatile system with a complete correlative mechanism that works at an optimum hormonal and chemical condition. Hence, the full optimal functionality of the body can be altered due to several imbalances which need a periodic monitoring system that will make the patients diagnosis more conclusive. Taking a regular office working subject, a tracking system on stress levels makes is important since proper measures can be applied to prevent the occurrence of stress-related diseases such as high blood pressure and stroke. In this project, we are to create a remote patient stress monitoring system using a BioStamp as the interface between the human body and the analytic system.
The project focuses on bio stamps that can measure the body’s oxygen-levels and blood pressure. The BioStamp should measure pulse between two points about a centimeter apart. The information acquired is transmitted to a smart phone or digital device that can measure pulse-wave velocity depending on blood pressure. A BioStamp is typically made out of stretchable circuits reinforced with a thin sheet of rubber. Custom transistors, diodes, and capacitors are required to complete it.
For one to get readings from the BioStamp as demonstrated in MC10 is by placing the sensor on the part of the body which will provide the required data [1], the sensor is thin and flexible material hence; it will neither be irritating nor burdensome for the patient. Stress can be measured by monitoring the rate of heartbeat and also the breathing pattern, therefore, by putting the correct BioStamp sensor at the left side of the chest will give an accurate pulse rate and breathing rate. The use of smart electronics such as the MC10’s BioStamp will, therefore, reduce the number of stress related sicknesses and deaths.
