According to the Mayo Clinic website, biofeedback is defined as a patient guided treatment whereby an individual controls their state of being such as muscle tension, headache and body temperatures and pain. All a patient needs to do is relax, visualize and take control of their cognitive processes. Bio-signals will be fed back to the patient and it is through this way that a patient will develop skills and techniques to manipulate the biological signals and bring about treatment.

Here one will find all information needed when it comes to the use of biofeedback as a form of treatment. Treatment goes beyond common body pain and tension to conditions such as ADHD and can also be used in the treatment of autistic spectrum disorders as well as brain injury and seizures and depression. All biofeedback does is support desired psychological changes. When biofeedback is involved there is no need to use instruments to treat conditions.
