Undeniably, Black berry is of the well-known companies in the whole world. It is well known for the great products that it produces to the market. This organization has been able to go through various stages of a normal company life cycle. However, the company has always been willing to rise up, and continue or even where necessary, to restart the life cycle stages. Many organizations have to go through a life cycles that are similar to the life cycle of blackberry. Several factors influence the longevity that is related to a given life cycle. These are saturation composition, as well as, some economic factors in a given industry (Khattar, 2013).
Choice is another important factor that is stressed in this analysis. This refers to actions or steps that a firm is bound to implement any level relating to the life cycle of a product. This element is important in making crucial decisions at both the first and the last phases of a life cycle. The last stage is known to be the most decisive phase. All activities in a life cycle depend on the choice made in the two critical phases. Blackberry Company undertakes decision that is similar to other companies, but some adjustments needs to be made for it to attain a sustainable competitive advantage (Khattar, 2013).
Blackberry Company was for once known to be the largest smart phone producer and also an initiator in terms of mobile e-mailing. This company has put its customers at a standstill for at least two years so that they may experience the launch in terms of an operating system that is revolutionized as well as a variety of cell phones. This company was at one point in time nicknamed research in motion. When it comes to ranking the company in relation to the Smartphone market, Blackberry Company leads from the bottom. Instead of this company coming up with the latest trends in technology and fair with others in terms of competition, it decided to modify its products then present the very best of the globe after a long period of break (Khattar, 2013).
This company faces stiff competition as well as threat of not maintaining its technologies that are patented along with solutions towards its rivals who have been coming up with new with updated substitutes that for the outdated blackberry. At some point in time, every person especially those at the corporate level depended on blackberry together with organizations that possessed strict policies on data protection in that they pushed Blackberry upon its employees, due to its data encryption together with protection systems that are sophisticated. The universal rule that is applicable to any organization is to either meet the requirements expected at a particular time, or watch itself drowning. Blackberry Company got stuck as far as its operating system is concerned, and that which it was providing with belief that it will not lose its customers easily. This was not possible due to the arrival of better alternatives at the market place, customers opted to work with better technology and companies were pushed to adjust their protection policies on data accordingly so as to cope up with time (Khattar,2013).
The way a blackberry works is still the most admired feature of a mobile phone even in future and will still hold its Unique Selling Point (USP) relating to Research in Motion (RIM) blackberry. The enterprise service relating to blackberry runs an email redirection that communicates directly among servers. On the other hand, there is also a redirection in terms of Blackberry Desktop, which is capable of directly synchronizing with one’s personal computers. Identification of the outlook is the first process in this. A message is received by the exchange account whereby the person in charge of redirecting checks the account, gets the message, and then sends it to the service related to blackberry that is issued by RIM (Khattar, 2013).
The famous blackberry company started failing as it could not compete with iPhone .The situation was also worse when Android cupcake was launched by Google that later on hit the market. Other mobile phone manufactures who were in the struggle such as Samsung, HTC along with LG decided to do away with Symbian while switching to android. Smart phones were limited to some customers as the commoners still preferred Nokia. Blackberry didn’t have such option. It reduced the prices of its mobile phones, modified the marketing strategies relating to it, and pilled towards young customers and also launched cheaper versions. When compared to Nokia’s simplicity, they could not match. In 2010 Blackberry experienced its failure from the top. Apple iPhone rose to 16.7% global market share in terms of smart phones, while at the same time launching its ipad, Android on the other hand rose to 25.5% market share and blackberry fell to 14.8% (Khattar, 2010).
My opinion is that the company should step up and start producing the latest smart phones for it to remain relevant in the market. It should also aim at maintaining its patented technologies as well as finding solutions to match what its competitors are producing. It should also apply the universal rule by meeting its customers’ needs. Putting all this in practice will make Blackberry company rise to its previous ranking of being at the top.
