Studying humanities helps one to appreciate the past and the positive and negative effects it has everything in the present. A business or technical course student would learn how to communicate, understand other cultures and even apply critical thinking to see beyond what is being taught or asked.

Ancient art allows a student to have a glimpse of the past and various interpretations of the things that have already been. A succinct interpretation of the past offers the student insight on the future and what it could hold. It is through knowledge of the past and things of the past that we can effectively interpret the present and prepare for the future.

Scientific truth is based upon the results of experiments carried out and evidence produced to support a theory. If experiments are done which come up with similar results, then it is prudent to agree with it but this is not mandatory as scientific truths are not absolute. Science is based on observations and evidence obtained from experiments while politics, art, and religion are based on opinion.

The various technological advancements over time have enabled mankind to think for himself. In addition, technology such as the computer and the internet have exposed mankind to a vast pool of knowledge. Computers have greatly revolutionized our lives in as far as the acquisition of knowledge and communication is concerned. Computers have made it easier to gather and share knowledge which increases the pool of knowledge. However, computers have also led to certain crimes such as copyright infringements, plagiarism and identity theft which do more harm than good.
