Hi, the SMART acronym is a suitable guide for goal setting at a personal and organizational level. Many individuals spend a lot of time drifting or rushing from one job and objective to another. Setting goals using the acronym makes it easier to focus one’s efforts, use resources and time productively, clarify ideas, and enhance the likelihoods of success. The SMART framework ensures that the objectives are significant and sensible, motivating and meaningful, attainable and agreed, resourced and realistic, and time-sensitive. The process of setting goals requires the buy-in of both the employees and the management for it to be executed appropriately. The workers should be encouraged to develop personal directives that align with the organizational or departmental objectives. Additionally, both the employees and management must take into account the external and internal factors such as the environment, competitors, economy, financial resources and labor capital.

Hi, ideally if a person or organization intends to succeed he or it must set specific objectives. Specific goals eliminate the chances of succumbing to issues that emerge during the process of developing goals. For the organization or individual to establish unique directives, several areas should be taken into consideration. They include creating realistic objectives, focusing on particular areas, estimating the time of completion, appreciating setbacks, reviewing progress, and being positive all the way. Moreover, there must be an end-result for the goal (s). For example, a school project can either bear a humanitarian/social or financial outcome such as making life better in the community or earning the learning institution funds respectively. As you highlight the focus should not be the processes or inputs required to accomplish the directives, but the outcomes of the entire process.
