Over the period of years, movies have diversified and modernized and relate to real life situations. Movies have therefore impacted both negatively and positively. The American culture has now changed and most of it is television oriented. Three out of five people are interested in various movies. One out of five has their decisions influenced by the movies they watch. The series breaking bad is one of these examples. The movie is a contemporary American movie that has been filmed over a period of two years and his audience has doubled in the two years it has been on the air. The series has had both positive and negative impacts on the culture and characters of the American people. More importantly, the series relates directly to what most of the Americans leaving under the poverty would when they lack no other option in life: results to illegal activities to provide for their families.
The series Breaking Bad is about a low life chemistry teacher, who when diagnosed with resulted to the drug business in order to provide a future stream of income for his family before he dies. The chemistry teacher is known as Walter White; he struggles to build his empire and sell the drugs but finds an accomplice Jesse Pinkman who helps him out to start. They together venture into the business of producing Methamphetamine and their business grows over the period.
Things did not go easy for the two of them; it took courage and endurance in order for a business to flourish. They first killed two local drug dealers in order to gain their market. The movie resembles the American lifestyle in the Suburbs; most of the family men would do anything to make sure that their families prosper in the long run. The harsh economic times led the chemistry teacher into the business as he earned less that he could provide a future for his family once he passed on. The most ironical scene at the beginning of the movie is when one of his students brings his car to the carwash that Walter White worked as a part-timer. The scene shows how low the teacher was willing to go in order to provide for his family. The society was not fair for him as he had to rub on the feet of the same people who are to respect him in the end.
Through the movie, the effects of the drug methamphetamine are displayed in the movie. The drug is shown to be highly addictive causing most of the youths and even families to crush since it reduces their productivity. At one point in the movie, Jesse Pinkman ends up in a rehabilitation center due to the use of the drug. His own girlfriend also dies due to drug overdose in the middle of the night. It shows that the low lives if the country spends almost half of their incomes in these drugs thereby not focusing on their development. Drug spending slows down the economic productivity of the country in the long run as there is no recorded stream of income. The government spends millions of dollars in trying to capture these criminals and put a stop to these crimes, but their effort is mostly futile. His brother-in-law, DEA agents, dies in the process due to his illegal activities after finding out what he does for a leaving.
Walter White starts slowly as local drug dealer, and he grows into an international drug lord in the area. His business grows as he produces the highest quality of the drug placing him on the DEA radar. As the only way to survive in such a business is through the gun, he ends up killing all his competitors in the business in order to flourish. He even kills the highest ranked drug lord in the states and takes over his supply chain. Together with Jesse Pinkman, they manufacture the drugs and supply them to the country. The drugs are highly demanded in the area giving him the upper edge to his competitors.
As their business grew with time, the police caught up with them. Walter White had to run away or he was to be arrested. Jesse Pinkman was abducted by the people who killed Walter White’s Brother In-law and forced to manufacture the drug for them. The main reason for this, was after they killed his current girlfriend at the time, while he is watching. Walter White was obliged to make things right for his family and Jesse Pinkman before he passed on. His final actions on the movie were making sure that the money he had left was all directed to his family. He did this through blackmailing a former friend of him to launder the money for him. He then made sure that he killed all the men that murdered his brother In-law and freed Jesse Pinkman in the process.
The movie portrays the increased levels of crime, insecurity and drug use in the country. It shoes that neither of these do not pay in the long run but just shortens the life of the individual.
