Breaking Frames; Imagining the World of an Artist
I selected this article Breaking Frame: Bordering on Illusion written by Peggy Whalen- Levitt because it best explains any academic learning experience. As seen through it, when a learner gets exposed to any written work, they become part and parcel of the content of the course content or material of the book by reading it and becoming acquainted with what is written in the very book. A student gets to a new class in college and gets introduced to a new subject or nothing they know nothing about, but as time goes by, they get to internalize the course content. I had found myself in such situations when I go to this class for the very first time I did not know what to expect. I just got guided by the course title, and as time went by, I got to learn more about the course content. The learning experience is what can be likened to getting absorbed into a new space and getting “absorbed into the world of the artistic work” (Whalen- Levitt 100).

Breaking of a Spectator’s Boundary
Section 3
Sometimes people attend functions where the language of communication is different from theirs and cannot understand a word of all that is said. I attended a friend’s wedding where the official language of communication was Portuguese. To break boundary, some of the major signs, symbols and sequences of events clearly demonstrated all that was going on during the wedding. Having attended several another wedding before, I could tell that the couple was taking vows; the reverend was praying for them or addressing the congregants during other occasions. The breaking frame does not only apply to artistic work that is done in the same language as that of the audience. I got myself enjoying the service one could think I understood the language. The bottom line is that in as much as I had not attended a similar wedding or event before, I was able to know what was going on because the congregants helped break the frame and allow me into their space which I enjoyed very much.
