I have chosen Buddhism as the worldview to analyze. As there are two schools of Buddhism, rather than focusing on one school, I tried to incorporate the concepts that both schools follow.
Origin
In Buddhism, life has no beginning or end. There could not have been a beginning out of nothing. Instead, there is a cycle of life called Samsara. The cycle is continuous and consists of births and deaths. There is a story told by Buddha that to a man who asked him about the origin of life. Buddha explained in parable that a man was shot by a poisoned arrow. The man, instead of removing the arrow, insisted on finding out who shot the arrow before he would remove the arrow. By the time he discovered who made the shot, which was not details necessary in the urgent need of care, the man died. Buddha explained that our immediate task is to attain Enlightenment and not to be concerned about our beginnings. The predominate belief in Buddhism is that life on earth evolved, much like the theory of evolution posited by Charles Darwin. From the collision of earth, organisms have evolved over time; leading to mankind.
Buddhism is not similar to the biblical view of origin in any aspect. The biblical view is that God existed prior to anything, and God created heaven and earth and all living things.
Identity
Existing in the human realm means relies on the theory of dependent origination. This is seen as a wheel of life and death. According to Buddha, as human we have five khanda, the physical form called rupa, feelings called vedana, ideations called sanna, mental disposition called sankhara and consciousness called vinnana. All five of these khandas form a human. According to Buddhist beliefs, there is no hierarchy of importance between humans and animals, or even plants. We are the same as plants, trees, people, animals, rain, oceans, and etc.
Being human in the biblical view means being in the likeness of God. According to Genesis, humans are to rule over all animals of the earth.
Purpose
According to Buddhism, there is no particular purpose of mankind. Mankind simply evolved. Individual humans exist to attain Nirvana and end suffering. I exist to end suffering that has grown through having desire. Suffering occurs because I desire after things.
According to the New Testament in the bible, the purpose of man is to know God by establishing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Morality
In Buddhism, right and wrong is determined through mental discipline. There are four noble truths to understand: (1) Life is suffering, (2) All suffering is caused by ignorance, craving, and attraction, (3) Suffering can end through the cessation of ignorance, and (4) The path to end suffering is through the eightfold path. In the Eightfold Path of Buddhism, also called the path to enlightenment, there is right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort and right mindfulness and right concentration. The right view is to look at life with wisdom and compassion. The right thought consists of kind thoughts. Right speech is speaking kind words. Right conduct is behaving properly. Right livelihood is living a life without harming others. Right effort means doing our best and doing no harm to ourselves or others. Right mindfulness is being aware of our thought, words and actions. Right concentration means being focused. I should live according to the eightfold path and practice Sila, Samadhi and Prajna. Sila is moral discipline and includes practicing good by refraining from evil deeds and telling the truth. Samadhi is meditation which includes focusing the mind through concentration. Prajna is wisdom which includes studying, learning and contemplating to develop realization and mindfulness. Each action we make results in Karma. Karma is the law of cause and effect, and is what determines rebirth. Actions have consequences and how I behave on earth in this realm will determine where I will be in the next realm.
According to the bible, humans have the ability to determine right from wrong. By choosing right, we will gain favor of God which will result in life after death with God in heaven.
DESTINY
According to Buddhism, when we die, we are reborn unless we have reached Nirvana. Rebirth can occur in any different realms of existence. We will never be permanently in any realm until Nirvana. Nirvana can only be accomplished through Enlightenment. The realms include human, heaven, titan, hell, hungry ghost and animal kingdom.
According to the bible, following death, we will either go to heaven and sit at the right hand of God or we will go to hell. Only by believing in Jesus Christ, will we be saved from condemnation in hell.
