I never thought that I could build a perfect computer system for my home recording needs with a simple budget. I am a musician, and I love recording my music. My main music instrument is an acoustic guitar. At first, the idea of building a computer system for my studio made me a little anxious because I imagined that it could be very expensive. However, I used the internet and my online shopping skills to locate low priced but high-quality computer components from various online vendors.
I started by comparing various online markets and platforms. There are hundreds of online vendors over the internet. However, I decided to compare Amazon and NewEgg. I settled on the two platforms because they are well-known companies with good deals. I also prefer established vendors to avoid online scammers. Each of the three online vendors stocks different brands of computer components from all manufacturers across the world. However, Amazon has the most diverse collection of high-quality hardware and software components. Moreover, since Amazon buys in large quantities directly from the manufacturers, they have priced their products more competitively than other online vendors (Nissanoff, 2006).
I settled for cheap components that would fit my price range since I was working on a tight budget. I had set my budget target at $1800. After comparing prices from Amazon, my budget stood at $1584 which was $281 cheaper than NewEgg for the same set of components. I was surprised that I was not only able to stick to my budget but also make some savings. What surprised me more is the fact that NewEgg is significantly more expensive than Amazon, and yet it endeavors to attract customers and stay in business.
The project has enabled me to gain more knowledge about hardware and software components. Also, I have gained knowledge about online shopping and price comparison. With this new knowledge, I think I will be able to make good purchase decisions in future.
