Choice of proposal for adoption
Following our committee discussions for the last eight weeks, we narrowed down our strategic plans to two alternatives. In light of the needs facing the local community and the challenges we are facing as an organization, a choice has been made to adopt Proposal Two for implementation. The reasons for the choice are outlined below.
Comprehensiveness and Inclusivity
Proposal Two presents opportunity for more comprehensive participation of all the stakeholders in the decision making process. It will put in place new procedures and methods that will ensure:
All alternative opinions and contributions from all the members of staff are considered.
All levels of management are considered in decision making.
Better records are kept.
This will enhance the quality of decisions that are made and ultimately lead to better performance by the organization in meeting the needs of the local community.
Reasons for rejection of Proposal One
Proposal one has major weaknesses that make its adoption detrimental to the goals of the organization. These weaknesses are:
Conservativeness
Proposal one is based on the current methods used in the organization and seeks to retain the system already in use. The methods currently in use are not optimal because they depend on the current methods and procedures in use in our organization and seek to maintain them.
Lack of Comprehensiveness
Proposal one lacks the thoroughness and inclusivity contained in Proposal Two.
It lacks a procedure for record keeping and does not involve all the stakeholders in the decision making process. It also encourages deviation from alternatives which follow methods out of those currently in use. The decisions made as a result will not be inclusive of the ideas of all the stakeholders.
Adoption of proposal one would result in sub-optimal decisions which would not serve the needs of the local community as effectively as proposal two will do.
It is after considering the above reasons that we chose Proposal Two for adoption. We make a request to everyone to be supportive in the implementation process to ensure the success of our organization in addressing the needs of our local community.
