The most important thing in everybody’s life is to find the right path in order to succeed. The majority of people think that the main idea is to find a highly paid job. It is a kind of a controversial statement. We can both agree and disagree with it. It is wrong if we think about such things as love, family, and friends. And it is true because everybody needs to earn money in order to survive. During these weeks we learned the peculiarities of being both a good employer and an employee. We learned the importance of a well-created portfolio, job advertisement, job brochure, etc. In this reflective essay, we would like to sum up all information we’ve got.
In my personal essay, I shared my ideas of a successful life. I wrote about the importance of education and finding a good job because in my family I saw a lot of examples of making wrong choices. From an early age, I began searching for a better life. That is why this course and tasks made a great contribution to my future career plans.
In my opinion, creating job advertisements was one of the most interesting and useful tasks. With its help, we got to know what an employee looks for in the advertisement. What is even more important, we had an opportunity to compose our first job advertisement with all the cons that job had. Now with a profound knowledge of how it should look, we could evaluate what was completely wrong with the first job experience. This task allowed a writer to be funny or sarcastic because we could look at that experience with a smile and blame all the disadvantages. Also, we got to know that good job advert has to be very informative still not too verbose. A real revelation for me was a fact that mentioning salary is not the most important thing. The most important thing is to show that your company is friendly and your work placement will be pleasant and not stressful. People seek for the friendly staff. Employees look for development, they need their job to become a positive part of their life, not just a daily routine in order to get money. Evaluation of advertisements was also an important task because with its help we got to know how to evaluate a company from its advertisement.
The next task that I like was creating of a brochure. It was similar to a job advertisement except it was shorter. That is why it was important to share with your clients only the most important and catchy information. Also, it took a lot of effort to create our own design of a brochure. The most important thing in brochure creating is making it eye-catching. That is why a design is important here. Also, a brochure is a representation of a company as well as the advertisement that is why it should not be neglected.
One of the important things that followed almost every single task was graphic decoration . Graphics take an important role in creating jobs advertisement and brochure. It is important not only because of visual form; it plays its own role – catching viewer’s attention. It was also a thing we had to learn.
Also, it was really useful and interesting to write reflection essays for other students. You could both practice your own skills while writing a task and consolidate knowledge. It was not about giving a simple three-word answer. You had to compose your response in order to justify all your remarks. If you thought that something wrong, you had to prove it. It was a reason why I liked this task.
Still, the most important task was composing a portfolio. If you need to find a good job you have to know how to make a proper portfolio. It is not about putting bare facts on a paper. It is about making a good first impression. Your portfolio is your face. It is the first and the only thing that your employer sees. That is why it is of an utmost importance to show not only your academic success and goals but also to reveal your personality. And I know that your creativity will gain you some additional points. During this course, I got to know that no one is interested in bare facts about my education and job experience. As I’ve already mentioned, I think it should be a mandatory task. It would be useful information for me to know a lot earlier.
In a nutshell, this course was really interesting and useful experience. All the studied information will make a great change. I can already see how I’ve changed my attitude towards job advertisements and brochures. I can immediately see the mistakes that I won’t ever permit in my advertisements. I set my goals. Now, I can see my dream job more clearly because I know what I should be looking for. And I know that it will help not only me but all my family because it is my duty to help them.
