If it’s possible for a person to be a left-brainer and a right-brainer at the same time then I would definitely fall into this category. All throughout my academic years, I have had no problems in excelling in my classes. In high school specifically, I have always been in the top of my classes, so much so that people have encouraged me to pursue a career in business or accounting. However, I’m not the kind of person who would follow the path that people typically expect me to follow. Instead, I’m more the kind of person who likes to think outside the box and who likes to go against the tide so-to-speak. Although it took me some time to figure out what I wanted to do, I’ve realized that I’d be happier exploring my creative side and pursuing my creative interests. This is why I’m shifting my academic career to the field of Marketing.
Even when I was younger, I have always been quite creative in that I loved to participate in dance competitions. I also love to go shopping as the various fashion trends always keep me in awe. However, unlike typical shoppers who go shopping to make purchases, I do so because I love observing the many marketing strategies that companies employ to keep their businesses thriving. It seems that wherever I go, marketing strategies are at work – be it through billboards, product endorsers, window displays, or customer services. These all seem like magic to me, the way that people are enthralled by certain products but are apathetic to other products even when both products serve the same purpose. Needless to say, I am very much intrigued by all the psychology and marketing genius that go into successful marketing campaigns, and I can’t wait to join the excitement!
When I first came to America, I did not immediately come to New York to pursue my education. Instead, I first took some courses in Santa Rosa College in California. I know that New York is a competitive place and that I had to be one of the best in order to secure a spot at Stern University. I believe that the courses I took in Santa Rosa gave me a stronger foundation in Marketing and helped me better prepare for the opportunity to study in New York.
Not only does New York have some of the top universities in the country; it is also one of the fashion capitals of the world. As such, I believe that pursuing my education in New York will enable me not only to obtain all the knowledge and skills that I would need to become a successful marketing professional but will also provide me with many exciting opportunities for internship programs that will allow me to apply my knowledge and to learn further from actual experience.
I came to America to study because I am inspired by different environments and cultures. I also love meeting new friends and exploring different ways of thinking. I believe that a career in Marketing will allow me to be exposed to even more environments and cultures; to constantly meet new people from various backgrounds; and to have endless opportunities for thinking creatively. In this regard, I would be extremely honored should you consider my application for a spot in your esteemed university.
