Political history has been shaped by various people and historical events in the state. Some of these people are; Earl Warren, Goodwin Night, Ronald Reagan. On the other hand, historical events such as the Ronald Reagan election as governor in 1962, removal of ``west coast Japanese” to camps in 1942, Watts riot in 1965 and California becoming one of the popular states in 1962 due to Richard Nixon attempt to defeat Governor Brown which intensified conflicts between the democrats and republicans further contributed to the politics of California.
Earl Warren is a very important person in California politics due to his popularity. Warren is a republican Governor and assumed office in the year 1942 after defeating Olson. Warren is deemed to have been a non-partisan leader. In his term, Warren appointed supported the appointing of republican and democrats to leadership positions in California to facilitate progression in the state government.
Warren advocated for provision of quality pensions to the people of California State. The pensions were in relation to health and unemployment .The desire to bring out non partisan leadership led to warren reelection as a governor in 1946 by both democrats and republicans which is a very rare occurrence thus forming an historical event. However, Warren could not complete his third term because of his election as chief justice in 1953.
The pension policies advocated by Earl Warren impacted positively in the economy and people of California. Quality pensions facilitated the growth of California as a state as well as improving the economic status of its people. In addition, warren appointment as chief justice impacted positively in California due to his desire to champion for quality leadership to all people. Warren declared ``racial segregation” as unconstitutional in his decision as chief justice thus promoting equality for all people California thus forming the basis for the formulation of laws to protect human rights.
Goodwin Knights also forms an important aspect in California politics. Goodwin was elected as a republican governor after the departure of Earl Warren. The business people thought he was the ideal leader because they thought he would support his ideologies. Goodwin however, did not support their ideologies because that would make him to be a partisan leader an aspect which disappointed the business class thus resulting to his dislike.
Goodwin Knight did not establish new development programs but provide funding for the programs established by Warren. Goodwin practiced non-partisan leadership in order to win the approval of his reelection by the democrats and republicans because the democrats had a high number of voters compared to the republicans due to the migration of people to work in ‘construction plants”.
Goodwin impacted positively in California politics by providing enabling the democrats and republicans to serve the state under his leadership.
The third important person in California politics is Ronald Reagan who was elected Governor in 1966.Reagan championed the reduction of ``state “expenses an aspect which formed his main campaign issue. However, this was hard due to the increase in population in California. Reagan appointed business people to leadership positions as a mode of rewarding them for their support. Reagan leadership is characterized by his tolerance to the control of legislature by the democrats.
Regan policy impacted positively in California politics, by demonstrating that partisan leadership should be dealt way with, in California. This is evident where he allowed democrats to control the legislature during his second term and by reducing the expenses by the state to promote good leadership.
