Importance of historical events
In the current century, social networking has been the trend where people no longer communicate on letters. These sites ensure that people all over the world can connect at the same time. Sites like Google and myspace.com advertise and place people in a way that no media can do. Hardly will you find people purchasing phones that are not internet enabled. The reason for this is mainly to be part of the social networking family. Some sites help in buying things online and selling. The sites also come in handy when it comes to presidential election. The presidential candidates use social networking to gain popularity and supporters (Alba, D. 1978).
Doctors are present when we talk of social networking boom. According to journals on health, doctors are using the social sites to help and advice the patients. Some even offer the consultation services online. Long before the social networking commercialized, there was a focal point of interactivity. Networking of computer was the military command and scheme of control. Although technology in the past-restricted flexibility of some of these systems, many were only able to send texts and write mails.
The history of social networking
Internet has given the world the ability to connect with just the click of a button making it easier to keep in touch and communicate effectively. Concerning that, social networking is the biggest industry in the 21st century although it was not always like that (Adler, p. 2002).
Early years
The bulletin board system universally abbreviated as BBs, social networking began in 1978. Personal computers hosted the bulletin board system enabling the user dial through modem and exchange information over telephone phones with other users. BBS was the first system that helped users interacts with each other. The system was very slow because only one person log in at a time. Later the bulletin board Usenet distributed the first copies of web browsers.
The birth of social networking
In 1994, geocities launched its website making it register its site in the social network family and it was among the first. People who had the same interests had the opportunity to interact through Globe.com. These people could publish their content provided the files were not very heavy. In 1997, which was two years later, AOL and six degrees.com launched making it the year instant messaging became popular. It is in the same year that users of the internet could create their own profiles and send friend requests (Adler, p. 2002).
New millennium
The new millennium brought the world closer having in mind that Friendster.com was the pioneer in the social networking family. Serving as the launching point for the most popular MySpace, Friendster.com duplicated after 10 days of its coding. In the following years, networking sites like LinkedIn, classmates, tribe and twitter topped up. This included what would become the world’s most popular and big website in the internet history (Alba, D. 1978).
In 2004, facebook.com commenced with an intention of connecting the United States of America college students. It was so successful that within the first one month, half of the students totaling to19, 500 had signed up. After facebook.com realized that it had gained popularity from all over the world, it opened registration to non-college students. Since 1978, social networking has come a long way and as we observe, it will change the way people relate in the years to come.
The history of internet advertising
In just a short time, advertising over the internet has become very common. Many advertisers and marketers have embraced the activity across all sectors of the industry. A while back, this was not the case and thanks to the fast growing technology for I can now view an item on sale over the internet (Alba, D. 1978).
History of internet has evolved enormously and nobody can complain. The history starts way back from 1989 to date and it will continue getting better as days go by. Not forgetting that ever since there have been many advertisement sites over the internet. For example eBay, market place, face book, twitter and many more.
