The Economy and Work
According to the conservative ministers, the government does not believe that Election Canada has any significant role for boosting and encouraging voting. Further, they have argued that the decreasing turnover in the recent years is representation of the fact that Elections Canada was not having a good deal of success.
In my opinion, there are ulterior motives for passing this law that the Conservative government is not disclosing. They want to win the majority by using illegal robocalls to the voters, which are identified as the non-supporters in the complied list of the confidential part and directed them to the non-existing polling stations. This will help them to conceal the fact that how many voters have not casted their ballots.
Rick Mercer argued that this law will be illegal in encouraging the young population to vote because there is a problem of right associated with it. According to him, people do not prefer to vote, because they consider the method in which politics is being performed in Canada, and they believe that they have been given bad oyster’s food.
In my opinion, this law weakens the democracy in Canada. This is because the crisis in the democracy of Canada are, that; Canadians are not even voting for once and the introduction of this bill for forbidding Elections Canada from encouraging people to vote will further worsen the trust of Canadians in the system, which as a whole is harmful to the country’s democracy.
