Poverty in its numerous forms has progressively attracted the attention in Brazil during the last decade. The government has made commitments extremely to reduce the misery from which many poor citizens suffer in their lives. The attention is an encouraging step, but the actual progress is yet painfully slow, even though the measures to increase the livelihoods of the poor are inexpensive. Poverty and inequality have walked hand in hand in Brazil for years since the country has been the most unequal country. Nevertheless, economic liberalization is the only way the country can implement to save its civilians. The government should implement the strategy and extend property rights protection to the poor and hence reduce poverty.
The other critical role the government should play is to secure property rights to land, which is that largest asset for most societies. For a long run economic growth, the Brazilian government should ensure capital, and technology and infrastructure is implementing and reaches every citizen. An excellent infrastructure network helps market reforms to work, therefore, improving economic growth of Brazil. The revenue is then distributed equally to each part of the country and hence takes part in eradicating extreme poverty. Technology aids in bringing economic freedom by making sure the financial services are accessible to the poor citizens.
The government should enhance on employment and productivity. Creation of employment has indirect potential to improve economic growth that later alleviates poverty. Simultaneous increase in the creation of employment opportunities leads to increase in labor productivity. Brazil has started initiatives and key programs that aid in eradicating poverty in the country. The first essential program is Bolsa Família. The main objective of establishing the program was to change the live if millions in Brazil. Bolsa Família is an innovative social initiative that is taken by the Brazilian Government. It has the potential capability of reaching 11 million families, interpreted as more than 46 million people. Therefore, the program represents a major percentage of the country’s low-income population.
The program began in Brazil more than a decade ago and has been advancing since then. The Bolsa Família is amongst the world’s finest targeted programs since it reaches those who are in need of it. For instance, the program’s 94% of the funds reach the poorest this is an estimation of 40% of the population in Brazil. The research shows that most of the money is used to provide health care, sanitation, education, water, housing, and food for the poor.
The second program is Brasil Sem Miséria, which aim to people living in extreme poverty. In additional, the program has a fundamental goal of breaking the transmission of poverty from parents to children. Consequently, the program increases the chances for a new generation through better health and education outcomes. The experience that the Brazil is going through is setting the pace for the rest of the countries. The vital goal of any welfare program is for its success to reduce poverty. Brazil economy is attaining the sustainable achievement that is anticipated to mitigate the problem of poverty and hunger.
In conclusion, the programs and the initiatives that the Brazilian government that has put on concern indicate that there is possibility to deal with income inequality and poverty in a constant manner. Therefore, the programs integrate millions of people into the socioeconomic activities of the country, country, without giving up economic development.
