Following the occurrence of the deep water horizon disaster, this case study is to evaluate the possible factors that contributed to the disaster at Deep Water Horizon, Crisis communication. This would help in coming up with recommendations and crisis management of such cases.
Organizational factors
The deep ocean water was preventable had there been existing practices and progressives guidelines to be followed. Those catastrophic failures was because of multiple violations of laws governing the public resource development and the proper regulatory oversight. Due to occurrence of this deep ocean water disaster, additional weaknesses in the barriers of the system and in the defenses were clearly exposed also exploited in order to develop the well disaster. This is very clear that the organizational team did not possess an effective, efficient and a functional safety culture
Technical factors
After analyzing the evidence, there has been an indication that one of the critical elements that was predicating this blowout was due to the entry of high pressure that was undetected and a high temperatures and highly charged hydrocarbons into the well. Form this analysis, it is also evident that the blowout of the well was probably initiated with a breach of the structure of the well at its bottom
Recommendations
Develop and ensure a proper maintenance of an industrial and governmental high reliability organizations in order to maintain an adequate and acceptable balances during production and protection. Secondly, there ought a well-developed and a highly maintained RAM technology in the life-cycle. This is, to ensure a full scope formal system cases of safety that involve operators, regulators, contractors also regulators in a collaborative development and the maintenance of high reliability in the exploration and the systems of production.
