I personally do not feel that I was the anticipated or target audience for this programming. I think the target audience would be middle-aged women, especially mothers. This is obvious in the script of the sitcom, with the humor and plots directed at this audience. Also, this is indicated by the ads seen, targeting their shopping for their home, family, and pets. They are using the presumption that the mother is purchasing the needs for any pets, and shopping for children. Specifically, the Neutrogena Skin Care is a product targeted to this demographic, as its purpose is to protect aged skin. This was consistent throughout the programming. The only inconsistency was the selected advertisements for THE CW, because I do not think the DC Legend’s of Tomorrow show is for this demographic, but it is promoting the channel’s programming. However, there were no advertisements or encouragement to follow the network’s programming online. The flow of the lineup made sense and keeps the audience from losing interest. The only prolonged ad was the Eggstracter, which lead me to lose interest and would have ultimately lead to my attention being lost completely as I was not whole-heartedly interested in the sitcom. Other than this, the commercial breaks jammed various short ads into one segment, making the break seem much shorter and thus maintaining my attention. This strategy for commercial breaks was most likely a primary reason for the line up keeping my attention through the programming.
