Introduction
A well rounded person is an individual who is upwardly and affluently mobile in sport, learning, conduct and manners. Court ladies in particular are expected to be well dressed and be eloquent in their speech. Personal and mental attributes and quality are the required characteristics of a well rounded court lady. According to maginifico, for a lady to be well rounded she must have continence, magnanimity and continence. A respected woman should be well behaved both at the work place and at home. A well behaved lady is one who is graceful, loyal, slanderous and never jealous.
A lady does not need to have good looks and a well paying job in order to be a well rounded person. She needs to be honest both at the work place and at home. She should not cheat in marriage nor have extra marital affair. Honesty both at work and home is important because it make a lady more respected. At the workplace a well rounded lady is one who has good reputation, discretion, competent at work (Jennifer 12). While at home a well rounded lady should be able to nurture her children well, perform the home chores effectively, as well as a good mother and caregiver.
Social life is very vital; a well rounded lady is one who is witty, charming and modest in conversation. However she should not be outspoken and should avoid gossiping. An outspoken lady is not well rounded because she involves herself in conversation she is not familiar with.
The Renaissance man had a lot of characteristics .Castiglione illustrated the following attributes of men. Among the characteristics that he highlighted included being loyal, courageous, praised piety, an easy learning and being witty (Saccone 65). According to Castiglione the gentleman of this civilized society had to maintain the high standards as the cream of the society. The man was highly educated, was fluent in speaking different languages and well built in literature and poetry.
The courtier had to be involved in all manly exercises and shoot out the best .the man had quality skills in playing different musical instruments. This Renaissance man had to follow his words, be loyal and faithful and generous to his servants. The courtier was a decent man with great morals and had to respect other people’s weaknesses. In love affairs, the courtier had to be honorable and courageous and bold when it came to wars (Rebhorn 250). The public expected him to express himself in politics.
Question 2 (Survey)
The tool that was used to conduct the survey was an open ended questionnaire to enable the respondents to express their thoughts freely.
1. Could you briefly explain the level of education that you possess?
2. How many languages can you fluently express yourself in?
3. Incase your female partner cheats on you, which steps would you take?
4. How would you convince a crowd the importance of education?
5. Is a woman supposed to carry out all the domestic chores at home?
6. Is it a must for an all rounded woman to be well behaved?
7. Are women and men supposed to be given equal employment opportunities?
Question 3
Response varied from persons to persons, their gender, age and vocation could tell why there was the difference. The old aged men were not well educated like the young generation. Most of the respondents were only fluent in about two languages, in the case of the female cheating; everybody seemed to vary on the actions they would take. It came to my notice that a bigger percentage of the men had a problem in expressing themselves to a crowd in the importance of education.
There should be equal employment opportunity between both genders. The survey also indicates that for a women to be well rounded she must be well behaved. Most of the respondents were against gender disparity both at home and at the work place. For instance majority of the respondent proposed that employment opportunity should be based on merit. Gender preference should not influence who should or should not be employed. Majority of the men I interviewed stated that women should continue to carry all domestic chores; they believe domestic chores are duties of women.
Question 4
I agree with the characteristics of a well rounded lady as expressed by Castiglione. Women should be well behaved, good mothers, home makers, honest and hard working in order to add value to their society.
