The article starts with a story of a rental tower which has introduced charging stations for electric cars a few years ago. Although this still does not bring much profit, the owners like to think that they are going green. The number of charging stations in Manhattan alone has grown to over 50 this year and they will keep on growing. Many car companies will be producing electric cars and hybrids and so the demand for charging stations will grow. There is now even an application for mobile phones which can help quickly locate the nearest station. This can also be done through the internet. There are two types of stations: the old 120 volts and the new 240 volts ones. Different cars need different charging time, however on average, it takes three to four hours to recharge the battery. Some car rentals have also introduced electric cars and charging spots for them. The customers like being eco-friendly and these cars and there is a high demand for these cars. As of today, most of the charging stations are installed privately. These companies or owners offer monthly charging plans. One of them costs $98 per month. This is a big save compared to gasoline prices. It is estimated that this time next year, over 125 stations will be available and the demand for them will keep growing. The only minus is that often drivers have to pay for parking and for the charging station. However, owners are doing everything to make charging stations more accessible for clients.
This article is very interesting as this is one of the many eco-friendly topics of today. Much has been said about electric cars and their positive sides; however, little has been done to change our world to match them. Charging stations for electric cars and hybrids is just one step taken to change our gasoline consumption. There has been much talk about these new types of cars, but little has been said about their implementation in our everyday lives. Even though some electric cars are out there on the road, charging stations is definitely a step to show that this is the future. Everyone is going green and anything that can help the environment is a burning issue at present.
The world is changing constantly and it is important to keep up. If things are drastically changing in one part of the world, this will affect me. Our whole society is now going green. Everyone tries to recycle and not harm the environment. Electric cars have just recently been a thing of fantasy. Nobody expected the day when they will be out on the roads to come so soon. Technology is flying forward and it is important to keep up with it as it changes the world around us often without us realizing. The knowledge about these charging stations will help me plan my future. This will not only effect my next car purchase but will also get me thinking about how soon charging stations will be implemented in my neighborhood.
