I would wish to register my complaint to the registrar in the department of linguistics about an examination issue. Last semester I registered for a unit in communication with a code of CLC 301. Unfortunately when it came to the examination period, there were some changes in the examination timetable that I failed to notice and so, I missed the exam paper. Initially, I had recorded in my diary that the examination would be on the first week of the scheduled start of the papers. To be specific, the paper was to be on the second day of the week and that was the correct position at that time. At that moment, there were some units clashing and many students were affected. Case in point was that some sociology units were conflicting with the communication.
A majority of students were taking both the units and therefore, many would have been affected, as they would miss on some examinations. In my case, I only had communication exams on that day. A majority of the students was taking sociology units and thus, the communication examination had to be rescheduled. When the changes were made in the timetable I did not notice the changes. The CLC 301 was brought to an earlier date and thus, it meant that the paper would start on the first day and not the second day as scheduled. Just before the examinations I travelled as I had some personal issues to attend to.
My friends could not reach me on the phone and therefore, I could not get any information. I travelled back on the date when I thought the paper was due, but I was wrong. The paper had been done the previous day. I raised the issue with the officers in charge of the examinations and they would not listen to my case. When I reached out to my course lecturer, he was none committal and told me to solve the issue with the registrar's office. I have therefore decided to seek some solution from the registrar in the department of linguistics.
I feel my case is a genuine and should be solved by letting me sit for the paper I missed. Case in point is that I read the timetable correctly, but the changes made in the timetable were actually the reasons I did not take part in the examination. The CLC 301 unit is an important unit that I would want to be seize with because I am about to graduate and this would be very disappointing to me if I do not sit for the paper as soon as possible. The examination officers have acknowledged the changes that were made and that would really help me as evidence to my case. I also have tickets used during my travel and they bore the names dates of departure and return. I also have my diary to show the first records I made in relation to the examinations.
It is therefore my humble plea that this issue is first tracked and a solution be reached at. My desire is to have a positive feedback that would enable me to sit for the paper and time graduate. I would also be available to be questioned and also give more information as will be sought by any authority pursuing this matter and those concerned (Allen, 267).
