Human rights of children
It is of great concern of children dying of hunger everyday across the world. This is has grown to higher levels over the years which begs the question, what is the world doing about these children? On a day to day basis we see children on televisions or even in the streets begging for food or even collecting food in garbage pits. Is it that people are too blind to see or do we simply turn a deaf ear to their woes for assistant? The sight of street children in almost every part of the world brings a controversial debate as to who should be liable to their situations. The governments on their hands purport to play their part through providing the basic rights for children. They also claim to fight for the rights of children through enactment of laws that require parents to provide these rights for their children.
However, what of those children who do not have parents, or even those children who have been born on the streets with parents who cannot even cater for themselves. It is one thing to provide laws that fight for the rights of these children and it is another thing to put up measures that actually provide these rights. Children die on a daily basis due to lack of health care. In the sub-Saharan Africa pictures are shown of malnourished children who go for days without food or water. The big question in this case ponders who is to be blamed? Well in my opinion, I believe that we are all to blame due to the fact that we all see and hear what is going on but turn the other side since it does not involve us or our family members. The society at large should take it upon them to ensure that children in our neighborhoods are catered for. We should love our neighbors and work hand in hand with the governments to provide human rights to these children.
