Explanation of the Persuasive Technique
Playing occupies a central place in the general development of children. It is often highlighted that a child’s whole life is a constant game. Cartoons have emerged to be important members of a child’s circle of playmates. In most cases, cartoons are made to talk like children except in cartoons depicting a relationship between a senior and a minor. Essentially cartoons help children learn their environment effectively. The importance of the bubble bee cartoon can, therefore, be derived from the aforementioned information.
A bright light blue background is picked for the poster to make its easily noticeable between other posters. The sky blue color complimented by the bright green color marking the playing ground jointly serve to depict a good peaceful day. The idea of a good day creates a feeling of anticipation of a good Christmas day by the parents’ guardians and the children alike; a feeling that works to the advantage of the event in terms of attendance, which further creates a metaphor for the poster.
The headline clearly highlights what the poster is advertising. It is designed with fonts and colors that contribute in giving the poster a much-needed metaphor. The bodycopy gives details of the venue of the event and the performers. The names of the artists scheduled to perform at the event are given conspicuous colors. Additional information about the last artists is also availed; Jai Waetford is portrayed as key artist of the day because of his age. Playing sessions, as indicated in the posters will be led by iCarly’s Carly, Sam, Freddie, Spencer and Gibby. It is worth noting that several other artists and celebrities are scheduled to grace the event. However, the few whose names appear on the poster are considerably more influential. In this regard, the name of these influential artists and actors are used to create an ethos for the event, and by extension, the poster.
The phrase “This year’s Johnsons and Johnson’s kids’ festival” further serves to further create ethos for the poster by notifying the audience that the festival is held yearly on the Christmas day. The underlying thought in this phrase in that the festival has always been held successfully yearly. The slogan “It’s never a Christmas without a Johnsons Kids Festival “, besides emphasizing (ethos) the fun aspect of the event also alludes to the fact that the festival is yearly on every Christmas day. Ethos of the poster is also amplified by the inclusion of several logos of notable business organizations sponsoring the event. Additionally, the several logos at the bottom of the poster hint to the audience that the festival has the approval of a great number of trusted brands. Punchability and memorability of the poster in bolstered by the cartoon bumble bee (in Santa Claus’ attire), and a slogan that states that “It’s never a Christmas without a Johnsons Kids Festival”. Just like the headline and the descriptive sections of the poster, the slogan also carried hidden information. The attire of the bumble bee also makes the date of the festival to be memorable.

Headline: “International Symposium on Human Factors and Ergonomics in Health Care: Improving the Outcomes”
Bodycopy:
The bodycopy appears on the white background and is formatted into three columns. First column of the body copy bears the date, time and venue of the symposium. The font of the writing in this column is relatively larger that the font size of the writings on the remaining two columns. At the same time, this column is visibly less populated than the remaining two columns. These are the exact words that appear on the first column;
Venue: Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel, Baltimore, Maryland.
Eligibility and Charges: Free for all
Registration Deadline: April 20, 2015
The second column details the areas in knowledge that will be massively advanced by this symposium. The column states that; the symposium will advance one’s knowledge in practical and actionable methods in the study of human factors as they role-play in healthcare delivery, and provide key guidance on policies governing healthcare delivery. The column also indicates that “the symposium is organized by a group of professionals on human factors and ergonomics”. The Column proceeds to state that “Attendees will be provided with a worthwhile chance to interact with key healthcare stakeholders, policy makers, company managers, Human Resource officers, and several induction design professionals. The third column serves an advisory panel. It contains useful contacts for people seeking further clarification in regard to the symposium. Pointedly, a phone number, email address, and names of key people have been given out in this column. A site map is strategically positioned below the writings in the third column to provide direction to the venue of the symposium. It is worth noting that the all the fonts in the columns are Arial even though the font sizes differ from one another.
Explanation of the Persuasive Technique
The bright yellow and white background colors that divide the background area into two equal halves. The two colors create a contrast between the area containing the title and logo of the poster and the area containing utile information related the symposium such the date, time, venue, description of the importance of the symposium, and contact information. A metaphor is created by the manner in which the logo of the organization coordinating the symposium is position in an oval shaped white area on the yellow portion of the background in a manner that leaves a catchy white outline of the logo. Including the logo of the organization behind the symposium creates an ethos since the audience will automatically extend the authoritative nature of the organization the symposium and finally to the poster. The heading “International Symposium on Human Factors and Ergonomics in Health Care: Improving the Outcomes” also heightens the ethos of the symposium because of the inclusion the phrase Human Factors and Ergonomics which is easily related to The Human Factors and Ergonomics Society whose authoritativeness has already been described. Most symposiums entail discussions of serious matters; this justifies the gross lack of humorous captions on the posters. Ideally, the sitemap makes to the venue relatively memorable.
