How Adam demonstrated the use of the concept of classification
The concept of classification implies the categorization of things into defined groups. Categorization is undertaken on the foundation of identified characteristics (Creswell, 2002). Basically, data is categorized or classified to make it most efficient and effective for use. Classification can be done using the names, features, families and such like factors. Classification as a concept was demonstrated by the Biblical Adam. He named all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. Accordingly, Adam named all the species on earth so that they could be identified, accessed and used efficiently and effectively.
How Noah demonstrated the use of the concept of measurement
Measurement is the core of understanding fundamental ideas. It entails observing and recording observations collected as part of research. It is the process of assigning numbers to certain things. In essence, everything must be eventually reduced to numbers in every study. The measures are helpful in hypothesis testing (Creswell, 2008). It is therefore important to have measurement for both dependent and independent variables so as to effectively test the hypothesis (William, 2006). Noah demonstrated the use of the concept of measurement in making the ark. He assigned numbers to materials so that a meaningful ark could be made. Specifically, he made an ark measuring 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high. He generally conceptualized and made operational the idea to come with valid measurements. Also, he understood the fundamental ideas which are part and parcel of measuring. He categorically chose to use nominal measurement to have it accommodate the exact number of every male and female living thing. He perfectly used scales to come up with valid nominal measurements.
How Jethro demonstrated the concept of program evaluation
Jethro assessed the work load of Moses and provided suggestions on how the strain of meeting people throughout the day could be lessened. In the olden days, a judge had little time in doing anything past handling disputes. In most instances, the disputes lasted several hours. Through the concept of project evaluation, Moses was informed by Jethro that the work load was extremely heavy for him. Therefore, Jethro proposed that it was better off if some judges were appointed. This would later help Moses in delegating responsibilities and thus have the laws well taught without feeling a lot of load. Accordingly, Moses followed Jethro’s advice by choosing God-fearing men who assisted in judging disputes while reserving cases that deserved referral Moses.
How Daniel and Melzar demonstrated the use of a stated or implied research question and/or hypothesis
Daniel and Melzar demonstrated use of implied research question. They conducted a test with regard to the diet provided and demonstrated use of hypothesis and/ or implied or stated research question. Daniel said that they should be tested for ten by not being given the king’s food. He proposed a research project to the king’s guards simply to avoid being tainted with food. This was meant to test his hypothesis of becoming healthier without the king’s meals. Also, he demonstrated the use of an aspect of research methodology of selecting the subjects. This was perfectly undertaken by randomization, i.e. selecting Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. Diet was Daniel’s independent variable.
The specific type of research design Daniel used to conduct his study
Daniel conducted his study using a classical experimental design. He demonstrated the ability to control the variables that are likely to bias scientific research simply to gain knowledge and to test his hypothesis. Accordingly, both experimental and control groups were put under similar conditions. The control group fed on the king’s wine and meat, while the experimental group chose water and vegetables. This was purposefully done to compare subjects in the experimental groups and those in the control group.
Type of research that I would be comfortable conducting as a counselor
As a counselor, it would be comfortable to carry out an experimental research design. Basically, this would make easy testing the research hypothesis and /or research questions. However, to avoid obtaining results of chance, statistical research design would be more appropriate.
How passages of this kind influence my attitude toward utilizing different aspects of research design and program evaluation in the counseling profession
These passages are unique in the sense that they expose me to an experimental research design which in particular is very pertinent in counseling. Specifically, they make me gain an exposure to experimental research design, which is vital in counseling. It positively influences my understanding of the need of having both experimental and control groups while carrying out counseling. Besides, as a counselor, the passages expose me to understand the need for prioritization of counseling responsibilities through program evaluation.
In conclusion, the passages demonstrate that for effective counseling, classification is a necessity. Also, having measurement is very essential as it is the heart of every research. It is also noticed that to adequately carry out counseling responsibilities, delegating responsibilities is very essential. However, it can only be achieved through project evaluation.
