Question 1
Which of the articles looks most interesting to you?
Response 1
Among the articles, I was interested enough in the article authored by Tricia Serio entitled “The Magic Mix of Mentorship that Worked for Me” . The article clearly discusses mentoring and advising that would assist students in many ways. Through mentoring, the students can achieve their goals to succeed with the guidance and support of the professors. Most mentors focus on the students’ needs, boosting their confidence to perform better and make a difference. Accordingly, mentors encouraged to compete and provided chances, allowed to voice opinions in a safe manner, pushed to do better, and created good relationships with the students. Thus, mentoring and advising can create a difference in the students’ retention and keys in facing challenges along the way.
Question 2
Search the jobs section. How many jobs are available in your field (law enforcement)? Where are they?
Response 2
After a thorough searching, there are available jobs under the Administrative Section/Business and Administrative Affairs. Particularly, the jobs can be seen under the Safety and Security positions with 51 jobs available. In the past 7 days, there were 6 jobs posted for availability such as Campus Public Safety Dispatcher (Aurora University), Director of Safety and Security (Clark College), Fire Safety Specialist (Miami University), Safety Officer (Monmouth University), Lieutenant of College Police and Safety (Contr Costa Community College District), and Director Police Academy (State Center Community College District).
Question 3
Go to the Forums section. There are many different available fora, from "Beyond the Ivory Tower" to "Balancing Work and Life". Go to one of the fora that interest you and read a thread. Share what you notice.
Response 3
I have chosen the Balancing Work and Life, under the topic of Grief and Grieving. The topic is one of the very hot topics with more than 25 replies from the readers and read about 56 thousand and more individuals. The author of the topic talks about her personal experiences, particularly, the health condition of her mother until death. Most of the replies pour heartfelt concerns and encouragements to the author. Personally, I would say that this particular topic in the forum brings positive outcomes that help the author to stay strong.
