Reflection
Many would not assume that beef consumption and the preservation of our planet are correlated. However, as nature is a closed cycle, everything is connected. In the past, many thousands years ago, meat was hardly available and people ate it, but not as much as today. Today, people eat meat more than they need and in order to satisfy the demand, farmers produce more and more beef. Even at this rate, there is not enough water and grains for farmers and people and due to that nature suffer. In the future, if we do not reduce beef production, we may face a severe shortage in water and grains. As cited by Hamblin, ″More than half the water and grain consumed in the U.S. are consumed by the beef industry″ (Hamblin). If the meat production increases many inhabitants on this planet are likely to extinct because they will not have water and fertile soil.
If the entire world chooses to eat according to the Paleo diet, then the meat consumption would be greatly reduced. The reason for this is that our body would slowly adapt to new system of not eating meat and the body would get used to smaller quantities of meat. As I am not a vegan, meat is an important nutrition in my diet. However, after reading these articles, I would try and not to eat meat before sex in the evening. Apart from reducing my body weight, I would have a better metabolism and would strengthen my immune system. This is an option where one can make a change in eating habits without sacrificing anything, but only by developing healthy eating habits.
