FBI and its Steps to Combat Hate Crimes
I took a decision to cover these chapter and topic due to the fact that these issues are highly common for any citizen, namely the issues of hate crimes. Anybody, in fact, is aware of the instances of hate crimes that take place nowadays or have already taken place. The existence thereof arise the feelings of injustice and arbitrariness existing within our society. And a person, who beliefs in liberal values cannot merely step aside and watch. That is why I have chosen this topic.
Not only are the hate crimes are about the encroachment upon the public order, but also they violate the fundamental human (civil) rights any person is entitled to: right to respect for human dignity and physical integrity, irrespective of the color of skin, nationality, race etc. That is why the hate crimes belong to the chapter at issue.
In order to obtain the information in terms of hate crimes and the state of affairs regarding the fight against it, the governmental FBI website was used, where the relevant statistical information is annually published as well as the measures taken to prevent hate crimes or deal with the consequences thereof. To my mind, this source can be used only in conjunction with the other independent resources, as it is unlikely for FBI to publish its failure and mistakes, whereas these could be found in the reports of, inter alia, different NGOs. However, FBI website provides enough information to rely on these data to understand the problem at issue and the way how it shall be dealt with.
