In this clip from Enter the Dragon, in which martial arts master Lee (Bruce Lee) defeats Han (Shih Kien), a dynamic and fascinating fight in a hall of mirrors, the script is fairly simple yet thematically resonant; by staging the fight in a hall of mirrors, Lee and Han are shown to be reflections of each other. Whereas Lee uses martial arts to achieve spiritual enlightenment and inner peace, Han uses his gifts and resources to plunder, steal and kill; Han is defeated by his own overconfidence and poor choices. The fact that he is ultimately killed on his own spear is proof of the film's desire to kill Han with his own hubris. Lee's and Han's performances here are staggering, with Lee offering a calm intensity that comes out in small, calculated bursts, contrasted with Han's blustering panic.
The filmic elements of this scene are also tremendously effective; the cinematography and editing provide dynamic camera angles, alternating closeups with long shots to give you a clear view of the action. The use of mirrors allows for fascinating shots where Lee and Han see multiples of each other, carrying the themes forward even further. The sets and props are all fascinating, showing Han's love for decadence and ancient Chinese weaponry; his claw and the spear are both interesting weapons to carry in a fight. Bruce Lee's signature costume of simple black pants with no shirt also metaphorically strips him down to a pure, simple and exacting creature. The sound is also very well done; long stretches of silence punctuated by sharp yells from Lee or the landing of blows helps to increase the tension in the scene.
