Technically, people tend to think that work is what must be done and leisure is considered to be the time that remains after work. Nonetheless, this does not imply that leisure occurs far from economic realm. Therefore, the fifth chapter of the book titled Communicating Nature looks into the communication of leisure as well as how clientele orientation has altered the way leisure time is viewed and also how the environment is understood. The author in this chapter points out that outdoor recreation is an industry characterized with millions of dollars. This industry sells lifestyle and goods. However, simple leisure is more often than not leisure is linked to items that culture communicates. The chapter also talks about entertainment related to nature. The chapter also refers to tourism as nature that leaves home.
The media links provided brings out social media in different ways. For instance, social media has taken over the way breaking news is being broadcasted to the society. With social media, information spreads across different parts of the society. Even though media is considered to be something to be proud about, it has received many criticisms especially from the government.
Prominent personalities such as Sanders have also been able to identify some of the effects of the media. It is with this reason that they have been able to point out that the media should not be made bigger. Others have stated that the media ignores climate change.
Media has also been used as a weapon of mass distraction. Marty Kaplan led a discussion regarding this topic of weapons of mass distraction. From this discussion, we were able to know more about the political uprising in countries such as Brazil. The media cab be used to start an uprising hence being referred to as a weapon of mass distraction.
