One of the most notable changes that humanity has experienced and has been experiencing for the last decades, is the rapid and vast developments in technology. This has impacted the lives of people in many ways, and has extremely affected the way people function and do things nowadays. With technology, the tasks of people have become easier and more convenient to accomplish. However, one of the aspects that has undeniably been impacted greatly by technology, is the field of communication. Before, message transmission would need a long amount of time to reach its receiver, and even longer depending on the distance. But now, with the advancements in technology, communication has been able to bridge the gap between space and time in massage transmission. One example could be how it can be used in the workplace (Burg, 2013). New aspects of technology such as social medias can really be of great help when it comes to information dissemination and internal communication. However, it is of utmost importance to note that these technologies also have their sets of limitations.
In the case of Red Clay Renovation, one of the risks of using Social media in marketing pursuits, is that it may have the tendency to lack consistency and coherence, especially when these social media accounts are handled by different departments. A solution that can be done is promoting a new “social media” policy to the company employees and managers (Morley, n.d). Though this policy may somewhat restrict the liberty of field offices, this will however, aim at promoting the use of a more patterned and unified strategies for marketing and communication (Agrawal, 2016). In promoting this new policy, the first thing that should be done is the distribution of hardcopies of the actual policy. This will enable the employees and field managers to easily and thoroughly evaluate the policy. Moreover, it will ensure the company’s top rank officers which includes the company CEO, that the policy has reached and has been read by the employees. The next thing that should be done, is holding a face-to-face meeting with the employees and managers to solicit their insights and possible questions that may have aroused during their reading of the policy. Doing so will enable the top rank management to clarify any questions and ensure that the policy has been well understood, which will help prevent employees from non-compliance. In order for the policy to become successfully implemented, it is necessary for the managers of each department to ensure that their staff members have comprehended the policy well, for this will not only address the consistency in social media marketing, but also in improving the Information Technology security of the whole company.
