1. "Ineffective communication is the fault of the sender." Do you agree or disagree? Discuss
Ineffective communication takes place when the message send by the sender isn’t deciphered in the same manner as intended by the sender. Ineffective communication happens due to presence of the barriers in the message which leads to inefficient deciphering of message by recipient. This may happen due to usage of symbols or jargons which may imply different meaning for different individuals or lack of clarity in message. Presence of other barriers like information overload and selective perception during encoding of message also leads to error while decoding the message. To a large extent, this can be stated that ineffective written communication occurs due to the problem in encoding of message by the sender. In the case of oral communication, reason of ineffective communication could be the noise in the surrounding which deteriorates the quality of the message by the sender and the receiver may not hear or comprehend the message clearly.
2. What can you do to improve the likelihood that what you are trying to communicate is clearly understood?
The message should be filtered to ensure that the information is manipulated in the manner best understood by the receiver. Also, the receiver should not be overloaded with the information and time to process the information should be given to receiver. The message should not have a emotional tone and should follow systemized and rational approach to communicate clearly.
1. Develop an example in which you operationalize the Fiedler model.
A company which has to deliver a project needs to have a project management team with a leader with task-oriented approach. The leader should have the leadership qualities to gain the trust and confidence of the team members, along with the requisite knowledge and approach to match the task structure. It is important to provide position power to leader to control variables like promotions, firing and hiring of the team members. Fiedler model incorporates three contingency variables which states that for a project to be completed effectively, leader-member relationship should be good, task structure high and position power should be strong. All these are achieved when the leaders are matched with the situations.

The act of company leader Mackey is completely unethical. A leader of the company sets the moral tone of the company and an unethical leader makes the company prone to unethical practices. Such companies don’t encourage the fair practices for their employees and can be expected to manipulate their financial and performance results while reporting them to investors. Hence, investing or working for a company with unethical top executive is not advisable.
