Statement of the problem
Telecommunication providers in the United States have been rolling out high technology services to the public, which have seen the sector, develop into a customer’s friendly industry. As the companies compete for market share, the public are at a position of determining the best provider to satisfy their needs (Gentzoglanis, 2010). Studies in business and management have been carried out to determine the best service provider in telecommunications industry in the country, but few have been able to highlight the ultimate provider of service that customers can prefer (Rob, 2010). This is because the industry is very dynamic, and relies much on the prevailing technology that is always changing with time and needs. These studies have not been of much help to the public, and thus the aim of this report is to provide the readers with an analysis of the service provision and focus on the prices between the three companies in order to allow them decide which company is preferable for subscription (Rob, 2010).
Background information
AT&T Corporation is the largest provider of mobile telephone services and fixed telephony in the United States of America. In addition, it is one of the leading providers of broadband and television subscription services. It has a market share of about 95million customers for is mobile telephone services. Its revenue is also enormous, being the seventh largest company in America and the third largest in Texas. The company was founded in 1983 as Bell operating company but undergone a period of change in ownership (Warren, 2011).
The AT&T Corporation of Dallas, Texas owns the modern corporation. The corporation is currently providing an array of services to the public, including wireless, high-speed internet and voice services, Wi-Fi, mobile broadband, and television services. The corporation faces competition from Verizon Communications and Sprint Nextel Corporation. Verizon Communications is has gown global, and currently one of the leading service providers in America. It is a component of the renowned Dow Jones Industrial Average. The corporation started in 1983 in California, where its headquarters are located. Currently, it provides voice, voice mail, wireless, video, data and directory publishing services. Sprint Nextel Corporation is based in Kansas. It is the third largest wireless telecommunications provider in the country, and has about 50 million mobile subscribers. The company has a range of services, including well-developed data, mobile telephony, wireless, and Wi-Fi (Gentzoglanis, 2010).
Information addressing the problem
The management at AT&T Corporation has been successful in making the corporation a giant provider of service in America. Apart from the normal services, the company has rolled out Apple iPhone services. The company is known for its decency in voice coverage and the high-developed data network. The company was among the fits to roll out their 3G data network, which has seen it develop a nigh internet provision network on mobile phones and modems. Most customers in America seem to prefer Sprint to AT&T in terms of wireless services, but AT&T Corporation has a well developed customer service representation (Gentzoglanis, 2010).
The corporations customers care center seems very effective because within a few minutes, one is able to get hold of a representative. This is contrasting in Sprint, where getting a customer care representative takes minutes. Although Verizon also has an effective customer care service, it is no suite to AT& T in terms of efficiency. Sprint Phone Plans has been rolled out to compete with AT& T’s Wireless Plans. The former has a lower price in the American market than the latter, which has seen its popularity rise within a period of two years. However, although AT& T has often been accused of price gouging, its service is good in considering the overall package. At the long last, customers save more in AT& T than in Sprinter and Verizon (Gentzoglanis, 2010).
Currently, the Smartphone arena is becoming popular in America. AT& T realized this earlier, consolidating the market after its collaboration with Apple to roll out the gadgets in the market. Verizon and Sprinter have also increased their presence in the arena, but they cannot fit AT& T. while the two competitors have tried to utilize the advantage of providing support for more features on the Smartphone than AT&T, which has seen them lose greatly on non-Smartphone market. AT& T dominates in the wireless arena, with a superior quality, customer care effectiveness, superior speed and reasonable prices than Verizon and Sprinter (Oryl, 2010).
Conclusion
AT& T has a favorable set of customer services, which aloes for customers to save more on all the services. In addition, its services are not only effective, but also cheaper when one compares the whole package of services rather than units. Competitors strive to beat the company by providing some superior units of the whole service at better prices, but fail to roll out a reduced price for all units. In the end, customers will have saved less than they would have saved if they subscribed for ATXT services (Oryl, 2010). AT& T is thus preferable to other companies.
