Music is an art of combining sounds into different melodies aimed at creating complete artworks. There is a limited amount of sounds and notes, yet there is almost unlimited number of their combinations. Modern technologies even allow composers to add sounds, which did not exist before. Unsurprisingly, billions of people living on the Earth prefer different musical styles. Country and hip hop music represent totally different approaches to music. They have different inspirations, different origin and history, different themes and tunes.
Furthermore, these two musical styles are differentiated by the main themes of the songs. As country was developing the rural areas it has simpler structure and uses such themes as love, death, daily life etc. Country music was often performed during dances and therefore neither melody nor lyrics are complicated and thought-provoking. The hip hop in turn often raises the topic of social problems. Since 1980s many hip hop songs are related to gang issues: crimes, weapon, drugs, prostitution and other negative moments of the social life of metropolitan cities. Besides, these musical styles have different rhythm and melody. As it was mentioned before, country music accompanied dancing, and was performed during fairs and rural festivals. That is why country tunes have a clear rhythm and repeating melody. In turn, hip hop is also performed during dancing activities at nightclubs. But the dancing at the club requires different movements and speed of the musical flow. Hip hop is faster and can a song can be made of parts with different rhythm in order to support the interest of the audience to the performance. Besides, the song itself can be performed in a different way. It depends on a DJ, what sound effects he would use to change the melody.
Despite both country music and hip hop were generated by American nation they have little in common: they differs in lyrics, rhythm, origin and many other aspects. But it reflects the common statement: tastes differs.
