Additional Insight
Identify two potential barriers that could occur in your communication scenario and then explain how you would overcome them. Write your answer(s) below.
The potential barriers that could occur in one’s communication scenario are as follows: (1) the recipient is currently not in the position to immediate respond to the request due to any of the following reasons: too busy attending to more urgent tasks, on the way to attending to other responsibilities out of the office (or abroad) for a given time frame, or the letter might have been misplaced or lost; and (2) other decision-makers or senior managers are indisposed or the organization is currently experiencing financial difficulties. To overcome the first barrier, one could regularly follow-up whether the request has been duly processed or if the letter was lost, the receiving copy could be photocopied and provided to the supervisor, as needed. In addition, to overcome the second barrier, if the other decision-makers are indisposed, one just needs to wait and regularly follow up the response. Finally, if the organization is in financial difficulties, one could just wait for the company to recover and do the best to contribute one’s skills to assist in the organization’s financial recovery.
