Abstract
If you own a PC for some business needs of personal needs, it is important to ensure the proper working of all the installed applications. The research paper highlights the need of computer protection tools and the latest versions of operating systems as well as office tools to be downloaded for best possible use. Precisely, the paper compares the functioning of two anti-virus utilities and includes a detailed discussion on their characteristics to find out the best suited anti-virus for a PC Toshiba.
When picking an anti-virus, the most important feature to be taken into consideration would be whether the anti-virus is test certified or not and whether it passes the accepted test for all operating systems. Since our PCs hold most or all of our office and personal usage data involving our day-to-day office and home use, it is important to note that the anti-virus we use should not damage the system. The next important thing that would come into play would be the level of protection it gives and the compatibility it offers. Also, since our PCs and laptops are in use 24/7 and are connected to global networks through internet including gaming session, it would be very eminent that the anti-virus we choose should check threats real time and in all environments.
We would also be connected to other PCs and laptops offline, i.e. through USB and all other forms of storage devices. Our anti-virus should be able to detect such malware that would enter your systems when these mass storage devices would be attached to our systems from time to time.
In case the anti-virus keeps working even on battery mode, lots of energy would be consumed in the process and we would be left with little to take on our more important tasks. The anti-virus in use should have the capability to detect the environment on its own and suspend the unimportant updates when in battery mode.
As per the comparison chart above, we find Kaspersky Anti-virus much more suitable than F-secure. Although both protection tools score above average on the certification and testing part, Kaspersky provides a wider cover of protection, including online and offline protection from online gaming and USB auto detect respectively. For online surfing, Kaspersky scores more than F-Secure in terms of phishing attacks. Apart from this, Kaspersky is better as it provides protection for Windows XP (64 bit) as well.
Although Kaspersky is priced higher that F-secure, but considering the fact that Kaspersky provides better protection, it would be a better choice.
