Abstract.
The concert was held on Monday, February 1st, 2016 at 7:30 in Lai Law Performing Art Center. We were listening to the piano concert of the popular compositors of Classical, Romanticism and Jazz eras. The whole concert was emotionally surprising the audience, due to chose of the compositions. Among them Chopin’s etude in E major, Maurice Ravel’s composition about ocean, Jazz song which is called Rhapsody in blue and others. After listening and watching musician’s playing on the instrument the audience was lightly surprised by technical part and also emotional consistence.
The concert was held on Monday, February 1st, 2016 at 7:30 in Lai Law Performing Art Center. The program of the concert was rich and interesting due to wide range of genres performed such as Classical music, Romanticism and modern classical music. The concert has been started with Mozart’s sonata in D major, K. 311 in tempo Allegro. This composition is one of the popular among Mozart’s works. This song is written in a positive mood. The emotions after listening this song are very clear and joyful. The counterpoint melody is very fast and has movements and transitions between songs. This composition has different parts starting with the fastest and finishing with low tempo part.
Another compositor who was presented at the evening is Frederic Chopin. This compositor is one of my favorite. He was born in Poland and played only on the piano. Most of his works were kept and recognized as one of the greatest ones. He exceptionally preferred playing on the piano.
At the concert I got lucky to listen to Nocturne in C minor, op. 48. This nocturne is very serious and has lyrical foundation. I would say that the compositor was missing his home. The chord progression and counterpoint parts are in symbiosis. Frederic Chopin was among those who has composed in Romantic style. His playing is very dramatic, sometimes I can hear very interesting combinations in notes that make me feel special. The middle part of Nocturne is played in Forte, that the moment when music has started to be more loud and stronger as result making an emotional splash.
Another composition has been composed by him is Etude in E major, op.10, no. 3. This music has the floating effect. It is floating with positive mood for me but another name of this song is Tristesse which means sorrow. This work is very different from others songs in terms of tempo.
The next composition is called Mazurka in C-sharp minor, op.6 no. 2. Among previous compositions this is pretty straightforward in Chopin’s repertoire. The main theme, returning a pair of times, in little changes form. It has regular rhythm of mazur but it is lyrical.
In the intermission part there were presented two compositors. I was not familiar to them as much I knew about Mozart and Chopin. The first compositor was Maurice Ravel. He has composed “Une barque sur l’ocean”, from Miroirs. In this I really thought that I am at the ocean right now. The first repetition of the melody transforms into waves of the ocean. The bass part starts to play more emotional and strong part which to assumed as storm at the ocean. This composition has a vivid picture of the thing. It explains a lot more than other previous ones. I love French romantic music of 19th century a lot more than classical. In my view this compositor is very similar to Debussy style of playing.
The second compositor was George Gershwin. Finally, we have listen to early jazz music. This type of music became academic recently. It is popular and more common in the world nowadays. I love the main counterpoint melody in this song. It really shows the United States in early 1930.
Basically, concert had a time scale of presented music. From classical 1770 to 1930 years. I really enjoyed this concert. I found out some interesting facts about compositors and songs. I would love to read more about Maurice Ravel. He has impacted me in a positive way due to his music in romantic style.
