The two pieces performed in the concert contained both musical and artistic content. The pieces; Petite Symphonies and Serenade for Wind instruments, Cello and Double bass in D minor had an ancient musical touch which focused more on providing sentimental comfort rather than the hype comfort. The performances were back to back and their musical relationship could not be undermined. The instrumental performance of the two pieces was very intimate with the audience as the audience got the real feeling of musical performances.
Petite Symphonie it was by Charles Gounod
This piece incorporated the flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and a French horn. All these instruments were in pair. The pairing of these instruments provided a synchronized rhythm and sound. The pairing of these instruments also provided a sound with continuity in the sound and rhythm. The instruments played in this piece provided the audience with a tender musical touch. The instruments maintained a smooth jazz rhythm and sound. The French horn acted as an interlude of the other instruments. The musical composition of this piece was made to incorporate feeling of smooth rhythm. The composition was perfect for a church setting and it brought the audience to a standing opposition at the climax.
Serenade for Wind instruments, Cello and Double bass in D minor by Antonin Dvorak
This piece incorporated the use of the oboe, French horn, clarinet, bassoon, cello and the double bass. The oboe, the clarinet and the bassoon were in pairs. The French horns were three in number while the cello and the double bass were each. Different from the first piece, this particular performance had more rhythm and musical touch. The cello and the double bass were used to bring forth a dance tune to the tune. The three French horns produced a vintage sound that blended with the smooth rhythm from the clarinet, bassoon and the oboe. This piece was more artistic and indulged musically than the first piece. This amazing musical arrangement was also applauded heavily by the impressed audience.
